Open Top
Signet Ring
Design
This open top signet ring was inspired by a piece of jewelry that one of my close friends had on one day while going out. I was very curious to see how well the same design would hold up out of wood instead of metal. Upon my first attempt I used a scrap block of skateboards leftover from another project where the veneer layers and grain were all going the same direction. The ring very simply snapped in half while applying the finishing touches with sandpaper. It was not until I cross laminated the layers on my second attempt that I was able to pull off this design. Although visually bulky in design the open top and airiness of the ring allow it to still feel delicate on your finger.
