Build-A-Buckle

Design

This belt buckle was designed to be fully customizable and assembled with various 3D printed findings and “stones”. The concept was inspired by an interest in mass production and testing the strength of certain materials. Nickel, copper with a borax patina, and black oxidized alan-head screws were used.

The concept was later revisited and taken a bit further to incorporate the idea of multiple castings. I chose to make a custom fit build-a-buckle box that you could order in the mail. The idea is simple, pick a general belt buckle design as well as three metal finishes for your stones and findings to be cast in, and customize to your personal look accordingly.
