Bionicle Broaches

Design

The main goal of this project was to test and experiment with different organic or plastic materials in casting. I chose to focus mainly on plastic as it fit in line with my practice of 3D printing and lost wax ABS casting. More specifically I chose to use old lego and bionicle pieces.

Included in these broaches are both original lego pieces as well as cast sterling silver lego pieces. Casted individually much like a lego piece, each gear, nut, and arm was reconstructed afterwards into the final wearable sculpture to showcase the tolerance and capabilities of lost wax casting plastics.
