About

A+ Colorado is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to ensuring every Colorado student can access an excellent education. They use the power of data and research to advocate for district and systems-level policies that will accelerate learning for all students. Operating at the confluence of practice, policy, and politics, we challenge ourselves, educators, and policymakers to rethink public education. Every year they host an event to celebrate and discuss improvements and progress in the education realm. We were asked to design and fabricate centerpieces to help describe and discuss current issues in public education.

3D Graphs

The client supplied us with a handful of graphs and statistics to use for the foundation of information behind our designs. I sketched several simple concepts of ways to turn their information into 3D dioramas that I could produced in house with our laser cutter and shop tools. The designs incorporate a common hollow wood base structure with a frosted plexiglass top plate to allow for LED lights to illuminate from underneath. Each 3D graph design varies in its educational information as well as its overall form. They included the standard graph information laser etched onto the frosted plexiglass top plate and can be illuminated simple with a remote to show off the bright colored transparent plexiglass elements throughout.
